On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Naif, Governor of the Eastern Region, the Director of Prince Abdurrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam, Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Rabeesh honored the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON), for its role in serving the national economy and the industrial sector by sponsoring the 11th National Geographic Information Systems Forum. The Forum was organized by Imam Abdurrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam, at the Sheraton Hotel in Dammam, from 11-13 April, in the presence of specialists in the field from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Through its exhibition at the Forum, MODON presented the latest technological and knowledge developments and its scientific applications in improving the services through the use of geographic information systems, implemented by MODON in all 35 industrial cities spread all over the Kingdom, presenting cross-sectional system in the field of "MODON Maps" available online, "Geo-MODON, and the RASID system, all of which deal with the spatial and geographical information of the properties and industrial cities that MODON develops and operates.
"MODON" adopted the application of geographic information systems, with the aim of developing and adopting single reference for the surveying works of all industrial cities, regulating factories, by industrial activity or type of investment; and many other criteria, as well as determining the dimensions and areas of roads and streets and vacant and rented land in industrial cities, either it be industrial, residential, or investment, all with high accuracy. These systems also provide standards for research, inquiry and extraction of reports and statistics, all of which are in the service of industrialists and investors.
In 2011, “MODON” won the SAG Award for Excellence in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from ESRI, the leading global GIS company in the world.
